Bernama, Malaysia’s News Agency, celebrates International Children’s Day of Broadcasting this Sunday for the first time in Malaysia. A host of Malaysian television and radio stations will invite children to read news, including sports, host programmes or voice their views at the event.
The theme for this year is ‘All Rights, All Children’, marking the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Participating radio and television stations include AI Fm, Era Fm, Bernama Radio 24, Minnal FM, RTM TV2, TV3, NTV7 and TRAXX.fm. For Bernama, its involvement in the project is in line with the corporate social responsibility (CSR) which was launched this year.
Bernama Radio 24 producer and CSR chief, Farah Harith, was quoted as saying:
This is our second CSR programme after the Chinese New Year programme and it gives an opportunity to children to know about the broadcasting fraternity and learn how a radio station functions.
