Hong Kong’s popular travel ticketing wholesaler, Lotus Tours Limited, contributes to corporate social responsibility wholeheartedly by sending care and warmth to neighbouring countries. In response to the Japanese 8.9-magnitude earthquake and tsunami on 11 March 2011, staff members of Lotus Tours hand-knitted scarves and delivered them to Japan. The scarves were distributed to victims of the tsunami via Salvation Army’s Japan Headquarters. Entire staff also visited Taiwan in December to actively engage in a fundraising bicycle tour in Taichung City to support the needy of Taiwan. Read more

United & Continental customers donate in excess of USD2.5 mill to Japan

United Continental Holdings, Inc. announced that customers and employees donated more than USD2.5 million to the American Red Cross efforts to aid those affected by the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan on 11 March 2011. In addition, Mileage Plus and OnePass members donated more than 63 million of their frequent flyer miles to charities through the airlines’ programmes. Read more
Coca-Cola Raises Total Pledge to 2.5 bill yen for Japan Relief Efforts

The Coca-Cola Company announced today that it is establishing the Coca-Cola Japan Reconstruction Fund and raised its pledge to a total of 2.5 billion Yen (US$31 million) donations towards relief and rebuilding efforts for the victims of the Japan earthquake and tsunami over the next three years. This includes the 600 million Yen (US$7.3 million) in cash and product announced previously. Read more

AirAsia and the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) plans to raise RM438 million (USD128 million) for children and families in Haiti. AirAsia’s group chief executive officer, Tony Fernandes, was reported to have said that the company has a dedicated link on its website to allow guests to contribute to the Haiti Earthquake Children’s Appeal 2010 fund.
