TELUS International Receives Prestigious Stevie Award for CSR Video

TELUS International has won a coveted Stevie Award for a video highlighting its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the Philippines. Filmed in Manila, Philippines, the short video features TELUS International president Jeffrey Puritt with almost 2,000 TELUS International team members working together to build homes and create safer communities for the homeless during the annual TELUS Day of Service. TELUS International also received an honorary mention in the Stevie Award’s Video and Film category for the video documenting its CSR work in Central America. The inspiring Manila video shares insights from families who have benefited from a new home and also captures comments from TELUS International contact center agents and leaders who are experiencing, first hand, how their contributions impact the lives of those less fortunate. On the October 8, 2011 TELUS Day of Service alone, thousands of team members in the Philippines volunteered in their local community at nine different TELUS Day of Service activities. Since 2007, over 4,800 TELUS International Philippines team members have volunteered more than 28,000 hours of service to building homes, teaching English and caring for children. “It is wonderful to be recognized with receipt of such a prestigious award because it is a testament to all our hardworking employees who dedicate their personal time to make a difference in the lives of others,” said Jeffrey Puritt, TELUS International president. “Our philosophy to ‘give where we live’ is core to TELUS International’s identity and culture. We believe that to be successful, TELUS International must constantly strive to play an important role in strengthening the local communities where we operate through the spirited volunteerism of our team members.” Partnering with Gawad Kalinga (GK), TELUS International continues to build homes for deserving families in Manila. As part of the TELUS-GK Village, TELUS team members have built 71 homes and a three-story multi-purpose hall in the first village and have started to build a second TELUS-GK Village with another 125 homes.
