Malaysia’s Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister, Peter Chin Fah Kui, has called on businesses to focus on environmental issues and climate change in their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

Bernama reports Chin as saying:

I am certain that we will be able to forge a more profound, effective and sustainable approach to both CSR and its sister discipline of, socially responsible investments (SRI)…

It is imperative that we do so, because without sustainability built into it, CSR will not fulfill its aim to harmonise profits, people and planet.

Chin was also reported to have said that CSR has been gaining momentum in the Malaysian business and corporate world. He called on corporations to develop and implement sustainable corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, in addition to giving generously to the cause.
