Hai-O’s Festive Season’s Philanthropy

The philanthropic arm of Hai-O Group of Companies, Hai-O Foundation, donated RM100,000 to Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) towards charity recently. Hai-O Marketing Sdn Bhd Business Development manager, Shahrizan Idris, was quoted as saying:
We hope that our contribution will ease the burden of many less fortunate people and we are indeed pleased about being able to support Bakti’s noble act.
It was reported that the foundation also contributed RM78,000 to five other charity organisations, namely:
- Pertubuhan Rumah Anak Yatim Miskin Daerah Kuala Langat
- Rumah Amal Anak Yatim YPIN Jalan Banting Klang
- Pengurusan Baitul Kasih Sg Buloh
- Pertubuhan Kanak-Kanak Insan Istimewa Cemerlang Sg Buaya Rawang
- Rumah Nursalam, Jalan Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur
According to the news report, this spur of giving was due to the festive season, to assist with the operating costs of these charity organisatons. This is in line withthe foundation’s CSR policy to care for the community and to offer help to those in need.
The foundation also provided 500 Bio Aura water filters worth RM1mil to various government organisations, private agencies and charity homes nationwide.
The Hai-O Foundation was established last year to assist with the needy and promote cultural activities. The group had raised RM2 mil for its initial endowment. The group’s chairman, Tan Sri Osman S. Cassim, was reported to have said the the fund would be used to promote educational, medical, cultural and humanitarian programmes.
The news report did not state how Bakti would account for the RM100,000 donated. It also did not state the specifics on how the charitable organisations would use the money and whether or not Hai-O Foundation would monitor the progress of their charitable giving.
