The Center for International Media Ethics (CIME) and EthicsforMedia is presenting a unique opportunity for journalists interested in further training opportunities. The organization is dedicated to encouraging ethical media practices around the world. In collaboration with journalists and experts, they have created a weeklong course focusing on how good ethics can lead to business sustainability.
Their strategy centers on J-Ethinomics: the idea that if the public trusts your reporting, it increases both the credibility of your brand and consumer demand. Hence, responsible journalism can better position your news organization for economic survival and success.
The courses, which are open for registration, are available online and on-site, with flexible schedules.
According to their website, EthicsforMedia was created to address the high demand for ethics education among journalists. At the same time, the economic crisis in 2008 affected the finances of media companies worldwide. So they decided to teach journalists J-Ethinomics: how reporting ethically can help them survive and prosper.
With media companies in crisis due to economic difficulties and the challenges of the digital age, EthicsforMedia teaches journalists how to build a solid public trust that will sustain the media industry.
By emphasizing ethics as a means to create public demand for news, EthicsforMedia provides an economic incentive for journalists and media companies to make ethics a priority. EthicsforMedia makes ethics practical from a market perspective. We train journalists to apply ethical standards as a means of improving consumer demand for digital age media.
