Earth Hour will be coming soon. The World Wide Fund for Nature Malaysia (WWF Malaysia) urging the nations to fight climate change on 27 March 2010, from 2030 to 2130. Malaysians have been called to switch off all non-essential lights during this hour as a show of support.

According to WWF Malaysia, climate change is a threat to people, wildlife and nature. For Malaysians, climate change will badly affect turtles, one of Malaysia’s most endangered species, due to increased frequency of storms that will erode beaches and reduce their nesting habitats, it says.

Over six million Malaysians participated in Earth Hour 2009, although the measure of its success has not been reported (in terms of how much energy was conserved and how this affected climate change).

To show your support, sign up at the Earth Hour Malaysia website (www.ehm.my) and pledge to switch off non-essential lights during Earth Hour 2010. The website also offers information on WWF-Malaysia’s marine conservation and climate change mitigation efforts.
