Ramadhan 2009 sees Kuwait Finance House (KFH) launching its second corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, namely the distribution of a million copies of English translations of the Al Quran. The donation is taking place within Kuwait, as well as a number of other countries around the world.KFH’s marketing, public relations and strategic planning manager, Fahad Al-Mukhaizeem said in a statement:
This contribution is the most valuable gift KFH can offer to non-Arab Muslims around the world… The contribution comes as part of a project which aims to distribute an officially approved English translation of the Al Quran. This is to enable Muslims and others who are interested in learning the meaning of the Al Quran, to benefit.
According to news reports, this programme is the bank’s second CSR initiative. Last year, KFH distributed copies of the Al Quran in the United States. In addition, in conjunction with the fasting month, KFH also hosts an annual Ramadan breakfast for Muslims in numerous countries.
In Kuala Lumpur, KFH’s local office, Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Berhad (KFHMB) commemorated the nation’s 52nd Independence celebration by cultivating 52 trees in the country’s administrative capital, Putrajaya. The project is another of KFHMB’s CSR initiatives, with the aim of contributing to nature by adding green and shady areas to the city. It has run successfully for three consecutive years, with a total of 50 and 51 trees planted in Putrajaya, for the previous two Independence celebrations respectively.◊
