Green Network Launched in India

GCX, a complete carbon and energy solutions company with global presence, recently started its operations in India with their first office in Churchgate, Mumbai. The key portfolios being offered are energy and carbon management, project development and education initiatives in those areas. Amongst its various other services, GCX  wishes to help companies offset their carbon emissions and support environmental initiatives by establishing a network of recognized NGOs and charities in the country.

GCX is keen to work with the charity, Plant A Tree Today (PATT) Foundation, in an effort to offset carbon emissions. PATT  Foundation, a UK charity operating in SE Asia, primarily in Thailand, has extensive experience  implementing forest restoration projects in Thailand and is now extending its operations to India.

PATT Foundation prides itself on initiating and implementing quality reforestation projects that are fully accountable and provide donors with clear reporting of what has been achieved and how donations have been used. The Foundation has also received international recognition for its innovative project designs. Most recently, PATT was one of the 2009 UN seed award winners. This award recognized the value of PATT’s work, notably its far reaching social and environmental benefits and its use of the carbon market to achieve financial sustainability (see http://snurl.com/isrfx for further details).

Similarly GCX is in the process of forming a working partnership with the Indian based NGO, SAGE Foundation. This new venture aims to enhance GCX’s local presence and address a variety of environmental issues within the region. Part of SAGE (Sahani Academic and Global Empowerment) Foundation’s work is to address the much broader issue of social empowerment, a key issue affecting society in the sub-continent.

SAGE has an innovative approach to address the issue:   It works with local people to assist with environmental projects. The end result is the empowerment of local people when they see the values of their actions. SAGE is part of the Clinton Global Initiative run by former US President Bill Clinton and is committed to create a self-sustaining village near Mumbai, an initiative certified by the former President himself.

GCX, with the above network of “green” organizations, hopes to help businesses to become environmentally conscious while working with the society. The “green” network aims to help the developing world to catch up with the developed economies in the fight against global warming.◊
