CIMB Group (1023), the country’s second largest financial services provider, has launched an online donation portal, which allows users to make donations to 23 civil society and social welfare organisations.
The move is part of the group’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.
Dubbed “CIMB Cares”, users can donate from as little as RM10 via CIMB’s Internet banking site, CIMB Clicks.
“This portal bridges the gap between donors and NGOs (non-governmental organisations), and provides an easy and secure access for both parties to either donate or collect funds online,” group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Nazir Razak said during the launch of CIMB Cares in Kuala Lumpur.
“The launch is timely as the current economic environment poses a challenging time for everyone, particularly NGOs, that need money to fund their causes,” he added.
All registered NGOs had gone through a due diligence and interview process by the group before they were allowed to come onboard, said Nazir.
The group is encouraging other NGOs to register as recipients of CIMB Cares, using this platform to raise awareness of their causes.
“More often than not, NGOs and the causes they support are relatively unknown. We hope to help them garner more profile,” said Nazir.
CIMB customers can donate via their personal accounts. Others who bank with Maybank, Hong Leong Bank, RHB Bank, Bank Islam and Public Bank can do the same through CIMB Clicks.

CIMB Bank has launched CIMB Cares, an online donation portal that enables the public to extend donations to charitable causes of their choice, in an easy, convenient and secure way.

With CIMB Cares, generous Malaysians can contribute a minimum of RM10 to any of the 23 Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) currently registered with the portal. All donations are made directly to the NGOs’ accounts via CIMB Clicks, the internet banking portal of CIMB Bank. As part of CIMB Bank’s continued corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, CIMB Cares focuses on bridging the gap between fund-raising NGOs and donors among the public.

Dato’ Sri Nazir Razak, Group Chief Executive of CIMB Group and his wife, Datin Sri Azlina Aziz launched CIMB Cares today. He said at the launch:

The launch of CIMB Cares is timely as the current economic environment poses a challenging time for everyone, particularly NGOs that need money to fund their causes. This portal bridges the gap between donors and NGOs, and provides an easy and secure access for both parties to either donate or collect funds online.

He encouraged more NGOs to come forward and register as a recipient with CIMB Cares and utilise this platform to generate awareness for their causes. “More often than not, NGOs and the causes they support are relatively unknown. We hope CIMB Cares will also help them garner more profile for the causes they support,” he added.

Nazir further explained that all registered NGOs would have gone through a due diligence and ‘interview’ process before being allowed to be a recipient on CIMB Cares.

CIMB Cares is available to the public. CIMB Bank customers can donate via their personal accounts on CIMB Clicks while customers of other banks can also participate through CIMB Clicks, facilitated by the MEPS FBX mechanism (debit payment from Internet Banking). This online donation portal is also equipped with auto debit and standing instructions for those who wish to donate regularly.

NGOs interested in signing up can contact officers at CIMB Bank’s Business Centres or the nearest CIMB Bank branch. For further information on CIMB Cares, visit www.cimbclicks.com.my or call the call centre at 1300 880 900.
