Businesses looking for online support in their CSR endeavours might want to look into Impact International‘s Impact Connect web forum. The site, launched as a pilot project in the Asia Pacific region, is a platform for businesses and NGOs to develop and forge sustainable relationships.

Although the initial launch is targeted at Asia Pacific, Connect is an international forum that will assist organizations to:

  • share resources and ideas
  • get involved in facilitated projects
  • promote ideas for action and collaboration

Through Connect Impact, users can attempt to build and develop sustainable organizations and enterprises that contribute positively to their stakeholders. Like other CSR and SRI practitioners, Impact hopes that business organizations will take corporate responsibility beyond philanthropy and to a stage where CSR delivers triple bottom line results.

Impact International’s Head of Innovation (Creating Sustainable Enterprise), Tiffany Kelly, observes that there is pressure on businesses now to achieve the three-pronged results –  pressure coming from stakeholders, consumers, employees and governance. Kelly adds that, with the Internet, the world is smaller and organizational practices are more transparent.

How does Connect work?

Once organizations and communities join Connect, they will be able to view and post events, projects, stories and other relevant information about what they do and what kind of partnerships they seek. They will also have access to chat forums and other facilitated initiatives.

Corporate members will be able to use Connect to search for community partners from all around the world, and will be exposed to NGOs that do not have their own websites or marketing. The site also features Impact ‘Turn-Key projects’ that have been designed and are ready to go. These projects will be facilitated to deliver measurable business results as part of an organizational staff development and retention strategy.
